New York’s Staten Island. A 35-year-old Brooklyn man was given a 10-and-a-half-year prison sentence for his heinous act of violence on a woman on Staten Island.
On December 16, 2024, Antonio Wade, who lived in Brooklyn in the 1600 block of Nostrand Avenue, entered a guilty plea to first-degree assault and was given his sentence. Five years of post-release supervision are part of the sentence.
According to police, the violence started on September 27, 2023, when Wade entered a woman he knew’s residence in Stapleton illegally and brandishing a gun.
Wade put his ex-girlfriend in a headlock and fired his firearm several times while they were in the apartment.
She suffered injuries to her arm and mouth.
The woman was hospitalized for weeks and was miraculously able to fully recover, according to a statement sent out by the Richmond County District Attorney s Office.
Wade left the scene of the attack. The defendant allegedly fired rounds at NYPD officers during a scuffle that broke out after the NYPD found him in Brooklyn, according to authorities.
The event did not result in any injuries to law enforcement personnel.
According to online records, Wade agreed to a plea bargain in that case.
According to a statement from Richmond County District Attorney Michael McMahon, Antonio Wade illegally entered his ex-girlfriend’s Stapleton apartment last year, put her in a headlock, and then fired his firearm several times in an attempt to instill fear and carry out a vicious act of domestic violence.
After weeks in the hospital with gunshot wounds to the face and upper body, our victim miraculously recovered completely. Wade attempted to escape the crime scene, but fortunately, NYPD officers in Brooklyn caught him later that night. Wade was sentenced to 10 and a half years in prison today for his heinous crimes after entering a guilty plea to Assault in the First Degree, the highest count on his indictment, in September of last year, according to the statement.
McMahon continued by expressing gratitude to his assistant district attorneys and the NYPD for their heroic and remarkable efforts in locating and apprehending the offender and securing justice for the victim.
