The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is recalling seasonings that are sold all over the country because they include a component that was not disclosed.
Wabash Valley Farms and Rural King bacon seasonings are being recalled by TS Food Packaging because they contain an unidentified soy component.
The recall notice warns consumers who are allergic to soy-containing goods that consuming these items could result in severe or fatal allergic reactions.
Popcorn made with the recalled bacon flavoring was sold in stores and online across the country.
Along with 1-ounce sample gift packets bearing lot numbers 16524SP, 16624SP, 23424SP, 26324SP, 26424SP, 26724SP, 20624S, and 20724S, the items were packaged in 4.2-ounce plastic jars with lot numbers 17324s, 27824s, and 30324s.
As of right now, no diseases have been linked to this issue.
After a production quality verification revealed that the soy-containing ingredient was a substitute supplied by a supplier without informing them of its soy content, the recall was started.
Subsequent analysis revealed that the issue stemmed from a gap in the supplier’s and their clientele’s substitute evaluation processes. The recall notice states that corrective measures are in place to stop recurrence.
Customers are encouraged to return any packages of Wabash Valley Farms Bacon Seasonings or Rural King to the retailer for a complete refund.
Customers can email the company at [email protected] or call 262-763-9434 with any inquiries.
