Dear Abby: Do I become the food police or let my husband’s diet lapse slide?

Greetings, Abby

I’ve been married to my hubby for fifteen years. He decided to stop eating sweets and go on a diet. But I’ve noticed that my chocolates have been disappearing lately. We live alone, and I’m not sure if I should speak up to hold him responsible or keep quiet to maintain harmony. A GOOD-MEANING WIFE

Greetings, wife:

Alright, so it appears that your husband has reneged on the pledge. Has he reached a plateau in his weight loss efforts, or is he still losing weight? Look the other way if he is losing, even if it is more slowly. If he isn’t, then remark (smiling) that your chocolates seem to be going bad more quickly than you can eat them, but don’t act like the food police.
