Dog treat recall: Throw away or return these 2 brands due to possible Salmonella contamination

In recent days, two distinct dog treat products have been recalled because of possible Salmonella contamination.

The dog treats in question are being voluntarily recalled by Gaines Pet Treats LLC of Birmingham, Alabama, and Carolina Prime Pet, Inc. of Lenoir, North Carolina.

According to separate reports from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Gaines Pet Treats LLC is recalling 204, 5-ounce bags of Gaines Family Farmstead Chicken Chips, and Carolina Prime Pet, Inc. is recalling 400 16-ounce bags of Hollywood Feed Carolina Made Chicken Chips.

Neither product has been linked to any illnesses or negative side effects.

Only two months have passed since Darwin’s Natural Pet Products experienced a dog food recall in September 2024.

The following states’ retailers and their internet retailers received the products:

The 16-ounce purple-and-black bag containing the Hollywood Feed Carolina Made Chicken Chips was marked with lot number 20051324L2 and had an expiration date of November 13, 2025.

The 5-ounce bag of Gaines Family Farmstead Chicken Chips has lot number 20061124 and an expiration date of December 11, 2025.

Those who own these goods are being advised by the FDA to stop using them and return them for a refund or replacement.
