Eagles’ Saquon Barkley to Daniel Jones after Giants release: ‘I’m doing well over here’

Former New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones should not give up on himself, according to Eagles running back Saquon Barkley.

This past week, Jones—who the Giants selected in the first round of the 2019 draft—was benched in favor of Tommy DeVito. Jones’ request to be released was granted by the Giants on Friday, and the team, led by quarterback Tommy DeVito, fell against the Buccaneers 30–7 on Saturday. They range in age from 2 to 9.

New York decided not to renew Barkley’s deal and instead signed Jones to a four-year, $160 million agreement two years ago.

Barkley signed a three-year, $37.5 million contract with the Eagles this past offseason after spending six seasons with the Giants. He has the second-most rushing yards in the NFL (1,137) after 12 weeks, and the Eagles are 8-2 going into Sunday night’s game.

In Philadelphia, Barkley’s dominance has increased. He also thinks Jones might perform better with a different squad.

I’ve communicated with him. During my entire stay here, our bond has remained strong, Barkley told reporters on Friday. Seeing how things transpired for him over there is awful. I can’t say enough good things about him. There isn’t really anyone who can honestly say a lot of bad things about him.

It’s the NFL. Hopefully, they’ll find a man who shows up and works wherever he goes next. I’m doing great here, and it didn’t work for me there. I hope he may achieve the same success and new beginning.
