Come on a fun scratch art trip with Mariners Harbor Library! Create a winter-inspired pattern by revealing vivid hues with special tools. First come, first served; supplies are limited. Suitable for children aged 5 to 12.

Friendship Bracelets: Teen Advisory Group (TAG) February 1, 2-3 p.m.

While creating friendship bracelets, you can get service credit and add a positive experience to your résumé! Promoting and growing the Charleston Library’s Young Adult (YA) services is the goal of the Teen Advisory Group (TAG). For teenagers and young adults (ages 13 to 18).

Enjoy Lady and the Tramp in the library instead of the theater! Come enjoy a food, coloring, and a family-friendly movie at Mariners Harbor Library. Children of all ages and their caretakers are welcome; registration is not required!

Groundhog Day at the Staten Island Zoo, February 2, 7:30–8:30 a.m.

Come to the annual Groundhog Day Ceremony at the Staten Island Zoo, where you can meet the legendary Staten Island Chuck! Will he forecast six more weeks of winter or an early spring? Find out when Chuck makes his major decision at 8:30 a.m. Enjoy an exciting morning with special visitors, such as community leaders and local politicians, as well as student involvement from Susan E. Wagner High School, who will assist in monitoring Chuck’s forecast all season long. Local theater stars James McKeon and Cara S. Liander will emcee this year’s event, which is sure to be plenty of humor and vigor. Don’t pass on this fascinating custom!
