Flags to fly half-staff for New Yorker killed in Oct. 7 Hamas attacks

In remembrance of a 21-year-old New Yorker who lost his life in the Hamas attack on Israel, the state buildings in New York will fly their flags at half-staff.

According to a written statement, flags will be lowered throughout New York on the day of the funeral for Omer Neutra, a dual American-Israeli citizen who was born in New York City and raised on Long Island.

We have prayed for months for Omer Neutra and everyone else who was abducted by Hamas on October 7th to return safely. Governor Kathy Hochul stated, “This terrible news shakes all New Yorkers to our core.” Meeting Omer’s courageous family has taught me a lot about this amazing young man. Let’s keep praying for a lasting peace, the safe return of the remaining hostages, and an end to the conflict without Hamas in control as we grieve this tragedy.
