New York’s Staten Island — Two of Ford Motor Company’s best-selling SUV and pickup vehicles are the subject of a safety recall.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the business is presently recalling specific model years of its Bronco Sport compact SUV and Maverick pickup truck because of electrical problems that could cause a power outage. Over 270,000 vehicles may be impacted.
The recall covers 272,817 cars, especially the 2021–2023 Bronco Sport and 2022–2023 Maverick, that were manufactured between 2021 and 2023.
Internal problems with the automobiles’ onboard 12-volt batteries are the primary reason for the recall. These may cause the battery to abruptly drain and malfunction while driving.
According to the recall notice, this would result in a loss of driving power or some electric systems, such as hazard lights, raising the possibility of a collision.
Ford will get in touch with the owners of impacted vehicles and instruct them to take their cars to a dealership so that the problem may be fixed.
Documents submitted to the NHTSA state that the dealer will evaluate the 12-volt battery and replace it if necessary at no additional expense.
Owners of Maverick or Bronco Sport vehicles can check if their vehicle is impacted by the recall by calling Ford customer care at 1-866-436-7332 or the NHTSA vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
Owners of impacted vehicles will start receiving notification letters from the automaker this month.
