New York’s Staten Island — On Thursday, February 13, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the American-Italian Cancer Foundation and the Staten Island Board of Realtors (SIBOR) will offer free breast cancer screenings. The foundation’s mobile mammography bus, which will be parked outside SIBOR’s Travis headquarters at 1150 South Ave., will host the event.
The bus provides free mammograms and clinical breast exams to medically underserved women throughout the year by traveling through the five boroughs. Walk-ins are accepted whenever possible, but appointments are required.
The following are the requirements for eligibility:

Woman ages 40-79

Residents of the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, or Staten Island

Patient has not had a mammogram in the past 12 months
On the day of the scheduled meeting:

Wear a two-piece outfit with a top that can be easily removed.

Do not use any oil, powder, deodorant, or perfume in the breast, underarm, or chest areas.

If you have Medicare, Medicaid or other health insurance, bring your card with you. Your insurance will be billed for services, but you will not be charged a co-pay or deductible.
