Free mental health courses to be offered on Staten Island

New York’s Staten Island. The Staten Island chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) has announced its free 2025 Family to Family workshops for people looking for support, assistance, and a better knowledge of mental health concerns.

Participants will learn how to take care of themselves, manage stress, solve problems, communicate effectively, and deal with a mental health crisis throughout the weekly classes.

Along with current knowledge about mental health issues and their effects on the brain, participants will also acquire insight and practical advice on how to compassionately support a loved one.

For eight weeks, there will be two classes that meet once a week.

The first will take place every week at 930 Willowbrook Rd., Willowbrook, Building 41 A, starting Monday, Jan. 27 from noon to 2:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, January 29, from 6:30 to 9 p.m., a second class starts. Every week, that course will take place at 634 Clove Road in West Brighton.

Registration is necessary, but attendance is free. Call 718-477-1700, visit www.namistatenisland.org, or send an email to [email protected] to register.
