New York’s Staten Island. BabyCenter, a digital parenting resource, has revealed the most popular baby names of 2024. The site also examined the patterns that will shape Generation Beta’s first names in 2025.
Noah is the most popular boy’s name this year, with Liam and Oliver coming in second and third, respectively. Amelia, Emma, and Olivia continue to be the most well-liked names among girls.
With a few notable exceptions, practically every top-10 name from 2023 is still in the top ten in 2024.At number nine, Ellie makes her debut in the top ten girl names, pushing Evelyn down to number eleven. After a year away, AndAsher is back in the top 10 male names at number nine, while Lucius is out at number twelve.
The top seven boy names are precisely the same as they were the previous year, therefore there aren’t many more changes in the top 10. (That’s Noah, Liam, Oliver, Elijah, Mateo, Lucas, and Levi, in that sequence.) There is only one change in the bottom three: Leofell moved up two spots to No. 10, Asher moved up two spaces to No. 9, and Ezra moved up one spot to No. 8.
There was some fluctuation, but not much, in the top ten girl names. Emma and Amelia moved places, with Emma currently at number three and Amelia at number two. While Isabella (No. 6) and Ava (No. 7) switched places, Sophia and Charlotte are identical at Nos. 4 and 5.At No. 8, Miais remains constant. Ellie, who went from No. 15 to No. 9, had the largest leap. Last but not least, Luna dropped one spot to No. 10.
Ember (No. 90) and Oakley (No. 96) for girls, Walker (No. 79), Bennett (No. 84), and Adriel (No. 100) for boys, are among the names on the list that made BabyCenter history by making it to the top 100 for the first time.
A few old favorites, however, have gone out of the top 100 names: for boys, Kayden (ranked 101), Dominic (ranked 113), and Aaron (ranked 120), while for girls, Eva (ranked 105) and Jasmine (ranked 122) have dropped out.
And Sarah, who has been a consistent presence in the top 100 girl names for over 60 years, is now at number 108.
