Gov. Kathy Hochul says Queens crew allegedly boosted $2 million in high-end clothing, beauty products

According to various media sites, a Queens couple allegedly headed a theft ring that stole around $2 million worth of clothing and cosmetics from retail establishments and resold the merchandise in New York City and the Dominican Republic.

Melinda Katz, the district attorney for Queens, said on Tuesday that five people are charged with felony possession of stolen property and conspiracy for stealing luxury cosmetics, including makeup, perfume, beauty products, designer clothes, and accessories, from stores like American Eagle, Macy’s, Sephora, Ulta Beauty, and Victoria’s Secret over the past two years.

The group of sticky-fingered criminals allegedly stole goods from stores in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, and other East Coast sites under the supervision of Cristopher Guzman and Yvelisse Guzman Batista.

In the state’s continuous fight to curb retail theft, New York Governor Kathy Hochul clarified that the charges are the first to be made under a new criminal statute that targets the marketing of the sale of stolen products.

NYPD: Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024, at 7:27 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was shot many times on Staten Island.

This is very easy. Hochul stated, “We’ve had enough of criminals taking advantage of our citizens.” We’re fed up with our residents believing they’re at risk from either these sophisticated organized crime rings or sporadic crimes on the streets. And we’re pursuing you.

Hochul claims that organized retail theft costs the average family more than $500 yearly and costs businesses nationwide around $100 billion.

Hochul stated that this is not a Black Friday sale. People were attempting to get this into people’s hands after stealing it from respectable companies. And that’s not fair. They are sufficiently expensive.
