New York’s Staten Island. Follow Santa Claus as he delivers gifts to every child on the planet to experience the wonders of Christmas.
Google and the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) offer a fascinating method to view Santa’s trip itinerary if your kids are excitedly awaiting his arrival.
Families will be able to follow Santa and his sleigh through the night sky as he makes his way around the globe starting on December 24 through NORAD’s Santa tracking program. If you want to follow along, go to NORADSanta.org.
Trackers throughout the world can now phone 1-877-Hi-NORAD (1-877-446-6723), a toll-free number, to find out Santa’s location. They will either hear a recorded message or talk to a real phone operator.
Additionally, families can utilize Google’s Santa Tracker, which offers games for your kids to play including Santa’s Canvas, Railroad Ride, Snowball Storm, and more. You may follow Santa and his reindeer as they deliver their gifts on December 24 when Santa’s Village is transformed into a tracking experience.
NORAD has been monitoring Santa’s flight since 1958. But in 1955, the Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD), its predecessor, started the custom.
A Sears Roebuck & Co. advertising from Colorado Springs at the time misprinted a phone number for kids to call Santa. Instead, the number linked children to the operations hotline of the CONAD commander-in-chief. Staff members updated the kids on Santa’s whereabouts instead of hanging up.
The custom was changed in 1958 to NORAD, a U.S.-Canadian agency that provides aerospace defense and warning for North America.
