Italian Club of Staten Island Foundation food drive benefits 320 local families in need this holiday season

New York’s Staten Island. Members of the Italian Club of Staten Island Foundation, a community-focused organization, went to Brooklyn’s Jetro Restaurant Depot and bought $15,000 worth of food to be given to families in need.

In order to serve 320 households throughout Staten Island, club members, family, and friends packed 640 bags of food on Saturday, December 14, using St. Christopher’s school as their staging place.

Staff members who delivered food to churches and other organizations across Staten Island, Hylan Datacom & Electrical, LLC, and Partners in Sound all made contributions.

The Carl V. Bini Memorial Fund and the offices of Councilmen David Carr and Joseph Borelli also provided funding to the Italian Club.

Eight well-known Italian-Americans founded it in 1950 with the goals of fostering greater understanding among top Italian-Americans in the commercial and professional spheres, increasing knowledge of Italian culture, and raising money for philanthropic, educational, and humanitarian causes. In 2025, the club will commemorate its 75th anniversary. The number of members has grown from the original eight to well over 1,000 successful people. The group has given more than $175,000 to eligible young adults so far.
