Job Market in Texas Grows and 42,000 More Jobs Become Available!

Texas continues to demonstrate robust economic growth as it marked the 37th consecutive month of positive job creation in April. According to the latest data from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), the state added 42,600 jobs, bringing the total nonfarm employment to 14,159,000. This achievement underscores Texas’ status as a leader in job creation among states in the U.S.

The job gains were widespread across various sectors, reflecting a diversified and resilient economy. Notably, private education and health services led the way with an addition of 12,000 jobs, highlighting the expanding demand for healthcare and educational services in the state. Additionally, the trade, transportation, and utilities sectors saw an increase of 9,800 jobs, while professional and business services added 7,600 jobs.

Texas’ annual nonfarm growth rate currently stands at 2.2 percent, outpacing the national average by 0.4 percentage points. This sustained growth trajectory underscores the state’s attractiveness to businesses and its ability to create new opportunities for its workforce.

In April alone, the civilian labor force in Texas expanded by 37,000 individuals, reaching a record high of 15,226,800. This growth is a testament to Texas’ ability to attract talent and support a growing population seeking employment opportunities.

Despite the positive job growth, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held steady at 4.0 percent, indicating a stable labor market environment. This consistency suggests that while job opportunities are increasing, the labor market remains balanced with a healthy supply of workers.

Chairman Bryan Daniel of the TWC emphasized the state’s commitment to supporting continued economic growth through improved programs and services. He credited over 170 local Workforce Solutions offices across Texas for their role in providing essential support and resources to job seekers and employers alike.
