Longtime TV star and Emmy winner dies at 84

At the age of 84, Thom Christopher, who played the antagonist Carlo Hesser on the daytime ABC soap opera One Life to Live, passed away in New York on Thursday.

The performer received an Emmy in 1992 for his performance as the mobster on the long-running drama, which ran from 1991 to 2008.

In a heartfelt statement on Facebook, his longtime buddy Steve Bergman confirmed his passing.

He clarified in the post that Christopher had been ill for a while.

Thom has been ill for a long time, yet he has handled it all like a pro. We had wonderful, lengthy talks every time we chatted, which was two to three times a month. He was a very intelligent man who authored wonderful stories and offered wise counsel.

Anthony Crivello, his former co-star, also confirmed Christopher’s passing in a Facebook post. On the soap opera, Crivello portrayed Christopher’s kid.

Actor #ThomChristopher, a longtime friend of mine, passed away today. He was always kind and helpful, and he and his wife, Judith, who died before him, were always friendly and kind to me,” Crivello stated.

Judith, Christopher’s wife, passed away January 2019 at the age of 88.

In the 1990s, Thom and I collaborated on the ABC daytime series #onelifetolive, Crivello added. Here we are with Thom, my father, and the beautiful #audrylanders who portrayed my sister. It was a great time, filled with long days and challenging hours, but every moment was filled with delight.

He closed by saying, “May Thom soar on the wings of angels to be by his beloved Judith’s side, and may they once more enjoy each other’s company, beside the Pearly Gates of heaven.”
