New York’s Staten Island. Authorities say a 55-year-old man died Monday morning during the morning rush hour after falling from a St. George skyscraper.
According to an FDNY spokeswoman, the individual, who was discovered unconscious and unresponsive, apparently jumped. Officials from the NYPD and FDNY/EMS verified that he was declared deceased at the site.
According to the FDNY spokesperson, the incident was reported at 8:59 a.m. near Stuyvesant Place and Schuyler Street.
The Staten Island Ferry terminal is only a few blocks away.
The man’s wounds suggested that he had fallen from a height. According to someone familiar with the investigation, he is thought to have leaped from the top of a six-story apartment building on the 100 block of Stuyvesant Place.
A portion of Schuyler Street between Stuyvesant and Richmond Terrace was taped off by the NYPD and FDNY.
As further details become available, they will be provided. This is a developing story.
