Man, 85, arraigned on murder charge in stabbing of wife, 87, at Staten Island apartment

New York’s Staten Island. After being arrested in connection with the vicious murder of an 87-year-old woman in Dongan Hills, an 85-year-old man was arraigned in St. George’s Criminal Court on Tuesday.

According to the criminal complaint and public records, Pitarbhai Khristi has entered a not guilty plea to all allegations, which include second-degree murder, second-degree manslaughter, and fourth-degree misdemeanor criminal possession of a firearm.

According to an earlier NYPD statement, officers received a 911 report regarding an incident in progress at 33A Carmel Court on Thursday at approximately 11:30 p.m., and upon arriving on the scene, they discovered Laxmiben Khristi, 87, with fatal stab wounds.

Except for the accusation that the defendant purposefully killed the victim by stabbing her in the chest, the criminal complaint gives very little detail about what transpired.

According to a person familiar with the inquiry, the husband and his wife got into a physical struggle after a verbal argument, which led to the fatal assault inside the house.

According to reports, the husband stabbed his 87-year-old wife with a knife. According to the source, a knife was later discovered on the defendant, and another weapon was found in a bedroom.
