Monsignor Farrell tight end Aiden Pedreros calls audible and will now call University of Buffalo home

Things can change in a New York minute in the world of collegiate football, as Aiden Pedreros soon discovered.

The tight end from Monsignor Farrell told the Rams coaching staff he was prepared to commit after receiving an offer from Fordham University, which had actively pursued him.

However, Fordham originally ignored the 6-foot-6, 240-pounder’s call, and the University of Buffalo continued to show him love while he waited anxiously to hear from the Bronx school.

He expressed it this way: “Buffalo kept calling every single day.”

And the Pedreros abruptly changed their minds after speaking with former Farrell standout running back Messiah Burch and former Moore Catholic standout offensive lineman Henry Tabansi, both of whom are red shirt freshman with the Bulls.

“I did a lot of thinking,” the 17-year-old Pedreros acknowledged. Fordham was in my backyard, but I chose to go on a formal visit after learning that Buffalo was graduating two or three tight ends this season. I knew they have a strong squad and are coached by Pete Lembo, a former Farrell Advance All-Star center.

What a revelation!

According to Advance/SILive.com, Pedreros recently signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the Division 1 university on a full athletic scholarship after realizing he appreciated what Buffalo had to offer both academically and athletically.

From the off-campus living to the instructors and advisors he encountered, the two-year varsity athlete loved every aspect of Buffalo and firmly felt that the Mid-American Conference institution was the right fit for him.

He remarked, “It’s a dream come true.” Since eighth grade, I’ve dreamed of playing college football. Since I got my first offer from Bowling Green a year ago, offers have been coming in, and I’m happy to have found a place where I belong.

Pedreros was credited with six pancake blocks for the Lions last season, demonstrating his durability due to his imposing size. He also caught 13 passes for 181 yards and two touchdowns. Pedreros caught 13.9 yards on average.

In addition to catching three catches for 42 yards during Farrell’s 14-7 CHSFL AAA quarterfinal defeat to Chaminade, Pedreros also scored the Lions’ only touchdown on a 28-yard screen ball after catching a pass in the left flat and displaying athleticism by running down the sideline to pay dirt.

The Tottenville native is excited to join Lembo and the Bulls on the field.

They like my physique and the advantages of my size, and they believe that because of their tight end situation, I may get involved early,” he stated. They appreciate my blocking and pass-protection skills, as well as my height advantage over defensive backs in (our conference).

“If I work hard, I can get on the field (right away),” the coaches said. “I know that won’t be easy, but I’m going to work hard no matter if I get time right away.”

Many D1 institutions extended offers to Pedreros, who intends to study in business and finance. He was offered admission to West Virginia, Wagner, Maine, Dartmouth, Temple, Yale, Bryant, Syracuse, UMass, and Marshall in addition to Fordham and Bowling Green.
