Unfortunately for fans of cucumbers, Costco is recalling yet another batch of its vegetables due to possible salmonella contamination.
This time, the bulk shop is recalling the cucumbers from Dairyland Produce rather than the six-count packets of cucumbers sold under the SunFed brand.
The FDA claims that the Dairyland Produce recall is exclusive to Costco stores in the Dallas and Houston regions of Texas, in contrast to the SunFed brand recall, which included 26 states, including New York and portions of Canada.
X2377074, X2379602, X2381000, X2381080, X2383400, X2384557, and X2384587 are the lot codes that the cucumbers will contain, according to the FDA.
According to the statement, the recall was caused by our supplier pulling cucumbers from SunFed Produce, LLC that were linked to illnesses that were reported to be caused by potential Salmonella infection. Hardie’s Fresh Foods repackaged these cucumbers. The product is no longer being produced or distributed by Hardies Fresh Foods.
It is advised that you return any impacted cucumbers in your refrigerator for a complete refund and refrain from eating them.
Salmonella is a bacteria that can infect small children, the elderly, and those with compromised immune systems, leading to serious and occasionally deadly infections. Salmonella infections in healthy individuals frequently cause fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (sometimes bloody), and stomach pain. The statement cautions that in rare cases, Salmonella infection may cause the bacteria to enter the bloodstream and cause more serious conditions such arthritis, endocarditis, and arterial infections (also known as infected aneurysms).
If you have any questions, you can reach Dairyland Produce by phone at 1-281-697-7067, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST.
