N.Y. Gov. Hochul announces pay raises for these workers

New York’s Staten Island. Governor Kathy Hochul said earlier this month that pay hikes for thousands of state workers at more than a dozen departments went into effect.

Depending on their job and region, the raises for the roughly 2,600 workers from 18 agencies and the Thruway Authority varied from $7,000 to $13,500. Professional engineers, architects, geologists, land surveyors, and landscape architects are among those who will receive the raises. The governor designated them as the workforce in charge of maintaining the state’s essential infrastructure.
