In a quadrupled Mega Millions reward, a lottery player from New York City has earned $4 million.
According to New York Lottery officials, Vincent Lett of Brooklyn has won a $4 million Megaplier prize for correctly matching the first five Mega Millions numbers that were drawn on June 11, 2024.
The Megaplier function, which lets players multiply a prize—not counting the jackpot prize—by up to five times, cost an extra $1 when Lett bought it.
Since the Megaplier on that day was 4, Lett’s initial $1 million win was quadrupled to $4 million when he took home the second prize.
Mega Ball 8 was the winning number that night, along with 1, 5, 7, 22, and 24.
The Ralph Ave. Liquor Store, 223 Ralph Ave., Brooklyn, is where the ticket was bought.
After the necessary deductions, Lett got a single lump sum payout of $2,448,960.
The Mega Millions game selects the winning numbers from a range of 1 to 70. A different field ranging from 1 to 25 is used to select the Mega Ball number. Players must match the gold Mega Ball number and all five white balls in any order to win the jackpot.
Tickets for the Mega Millions are available for $2 every day of the week at any New York Lottery outlet. On draw nights, tickets must be purchased by 10 p.m.
Every Tuesday and Friday, there are drawings.
Officially, tickets for the Mega Millions lotto game will now cost $5 next year. According to a press statement from Mega Millions, tickets will go increase from the current $2 per play to $5 starting in April 2025.
Mega Millions is also preparing for a significant makeover, as new and enhanced games will be released in the same month as the price adjustment.
Every play will have an integrated multiplier that automatically increases every non-jackpot win by two, three, four, five, or ten times, up to a maximum of $10 million, for matching the five white balls.
Additionally, the game will no longer offer breakeven prizes, so if a player wins, their winnings will always exceed their ticket price.
Through the New York Lottery app, players can safely check their tickets.
