The $5,000 weekly for life top prize in the New York Lottery’s Set For Life scratch-off game has been won by a guy from Queens.
The winning ticket was bought by Middle Village resident John Frey from 7-Eleven, which is situated at 72-01 Eliot Ave. in Queens.
This ticket has a $5,000 minimum payoff. After the necessary withholdings, Frey chose to receive the $2,122,378 lump amount that was the cash worth of this minimum. There was only one top prize winning ticket left for sale as of Thursday.
Players must match any of their numbers to one of the six winning numbers in the $10 scratch-off game Set For Life. A player immediately wins the displayed prize if they reveal a coin symbol. They get ten times the prize displayed if they reveal a star symbol.
The player has won the $5,000 weekly jackpot for life if the prize is the LIFE sign. There is a 1 in 7,061,692.86 chance of earning the top prize.
Although those odds are speculative, there are many other rewards available. The most popular prize is $10, which has a 1 in 11.36 chance of winning.
The total sales of scratch-off games in New York during the fiscal year 2023–2024 were $4,373,546,208. According to the New York Lottery, over the same time period, school districts in the city earned $1,193,465,995 in Lottery Aid to Education monies.
