N.Y. Lottery: Powerball winner claims doubled prize of $2M as one-time lump sum

According to lottery authorities, a player in the New York Lottery has claimed a $2 million reward that has been doubled for matching the first five numbers in a Powerball drawing while using a Powerplay option.

On June 19, Patricia Mandarino of East Amherst, New York, bought a ticket at 7-Eleven, which is situated at 8000 Main St. in Williamsville, and she matched the numbers.

Additionally, Mandarino decided to include the optional $1 Powerplay function, which doubles the $1,000,000 second prize instantly and lets players increase a non-jackpot award up to ten times.

The winning numbers were Powerball 7, 4, 27, 44, 50, and 64.

After the necessary withholdings, Mandarino chose to receive a single, lump-sum payout of $1,302,000.

In the Powerball game, the winning numbers are selected from a range of 1 to 69. A different field ranging from 1 to 26 is used to select the Powerball number. Players must match the red Powerball number and all five white balls in any order to win the jackpot.

Every day of the week, Powerball tickets are available for $2 at any New York Lottery shop. On draw nights, tickets must be purchased by 10 p.m.

The New York Lottery encourages players to purchase tickets in advance to avoid last-minute lineups for the drawings, which take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 11 p.m.

Through the New York Lottery app, players can safely check their tickets.
