N.Y. Weather: Chilly temps for NYC this week, with sunny skies and chance of snow

New York’s Staten Island. This week may not see the snowflakes that just transformed Staten Island into a wintry paradise.

A respite from the icy weather will be shared by Sunday and Monday. The temperature will peak at a comfortable 44 degrees today and drop to roughly freezing tonight. Hopefully, the sun will shine today, keeping the residents of Staten Island a little warmer.

According to the AccuWeather website, Monday will start the workweek with a similar pattern: a high of 43 degrees, a low of 28 degrees, and a mix of sun and clouds.

Unfortunately, AccuWeather predicts that Tuesday will be substantially cooler, bringing with it the return of that freezing, windy chill. With a high of 34 degrees expected, the high temperature will have difficulty rising above freezing. A snow shower is possible in the afternoon or evening, and the low will be 25 degrees with an actual feel of only 6 degrees.

On the other hand, AccuWeather’s website now caps the possibility of precipitation at 7% for the day.

With a high of 35 degrees and a low of 24 degrees, Wednesday will be just as windy, sunny, and cold.

Thursday will be no different, with temperatures in the low 30 degree range throughout the day and the high 20 degree range at night. Although there is a 25% probability of precipitation on Thursday night, AccuWeather is not currently reporting any noteworthy weather.

A sunny, forty-degree day will cap out the workweek and provide a much-needed break from the midweek chill. Although the AccuWeather real feel will be 22 degrees, even the low will reach the freezing point.

The weekend will be similar, with low to mid-40 degree days and low-30 or high-20 degree nights. As Staten Islanders enjoy weekend winter activities, a mix of clouds and sun will follow.
