N.Y. weather: Christmas forecast for NYC becomes clearer

New York’s Staten Island. According to weather scientists, if you’re looking for a white Christmas this year, your hopes will have to wait until 2025.

Indeed, until Christmas Day, the weather will continue to improve, according to AccuWeather senior meteorologist Dan Pydynowski.

Today will be the coldest day of the week since it is windy and quite chilly, with highs only reaching the mid-20s. Pydynowski said. As Monday approaches, it appears that the temperature will begin to rise slightly.

According to Pydynowski, the weather will remain very windy for the remainder of Sunday, but as the early part of the week draws near, the winds should lessen.

According to the weatherman, winds will drop to roughly five to twelve miles per hour on Monday and Tuesday. Although there won’t be a very active storm system crossing New York City during the day, Monday’s highs will be in the low 30s. According to AccuWeather, Monday and Tuesday appear to be dry with plenty of sunshine in terms of rain or snow.

Therefore, Pydynowski promised that tomorrow and Tuesday, Christmas Eve, will not be as windy as what we’ve been dealing with this weekend. Although it’s cold, it’s nothing compared to what we’re experiencing today.

Pydynowski persisted in his forecast, stating that a light storm system would pass across the New York City region on Monday night and into Tuesday morning, with the potential to bring in a tenth of an inch of rain or snow showers.

Pydynowski said, “I don’t really think we’re talking any snow, if it is, I think it’s very light.” Put otherwise, we aren’t really discussing anything that would accumulate.

According to the meteorologist, afternoon highs on Tuesday, Christmas Eve, and Wednesday, Christmas Day, should be dry and about 40 degrees.

Perhaps some rain or snow on Wednesday evening or Thursday, the day after Christmas, Pydynowski stressed. If there is, it will be very little—perhaps a tenth of an inch or so—and it won’t build up as rainfall of any type.

The senior meteorologist predicts that Thursday and Friday, the days following Christmas, will be rather dry with temperatures likely in the lower 40s on both days.
