N.Y. weather: Slick roads a concern for evening commute as storm drops under inch in NYC

New York’s Staten Island. On Monday, those who hoped to avoid heavy snowfall were fortunate.

Just less than an inch of snow fell during a winter storm that traveled across the nation before fading in the afternoon.

Nevertheless, the downpour created slick conditions on secondary routes with a thin layer of slush and snow.

The majority of roads are still wet, and the city’s Notify NYC notice system is recommended on X, formerly Twitter. Any untreated surfaces could becoming icy and slippery during the evening commute because the temperature is still below freezing. Travel with additional caution this afternoon and tonight.
