New York state civil service: These exams are open through February

Applications for New York’s entry-level civil service examinations are now being accepted through February by the New York State Department of Civil Service (DCS).

One can begin a career with New York State by taking the open-competitive exams. Anyone who satisfies the requirements stated in the examination notification is eligible to take these tests.

Bridge repair supervisor, disaster preparedness program representative 2, disaster preparedness program representative 3, and thruway maintenance supervisor are among the exams for which the application period was open until February 19.

To apply for examinations, go to www.cs.ny.gov/examannouncements/types/oc. There are no application costs for these tests.

Certain professions provide an extra yearly downstate adjustment for employment in Nassau, Suffolk, Rockland, or Westchester counties, or in any of the five boroughs of New York City.

By the application deadline, an application must be sent in by mail or online. Applications submitted after the filing date will not be considered. The administration says there are no application costs for this month’s tests.

You have to pass the written exam in order to be considered for an appointment.

An admission notice detailing your designated test date and the format of the examination will be sent to you if you are accepted for a written exam. You can take your test online at a state testing location using a Chromebook that the state provides, or you can take it using paper and pencil. You are unable to request a different test administration type or a different day for your scheduled test.

Benefits including paid time off, health insurance, and retirement plans are provided for all jobs. Additionally, employees who fulfill specific requirements can be eligible for telecommuting possibilities. Each position has a different salary.
