NY weather: Be prepared for heavy snow in Delaware and Sullivan counties Monday afternoon

At 2:20 p.m. on Monday, the National Weather Service published a prediction predicting significant snowfall in Delaware and Sullivan counties through 3 p.m.

The meteorological service reports that at 2:20 p.m., “a band of heavy snow was near Stalker, or 15 miles west of Liberty moving east at 30 MPH.”

Rockland, Fallsburg, Monticello, Liberty, Bethel, Damascus, Neversink, South Fallsburg, Callicoon, and Cochecton are among the places affected by the alert. The following highway exits are included in this: interstate 86/Route 17 between 87 and 111.

“In winter weather conditions, conditions can rapidly deteriorate,” the weather service says. Be ready for roads covered with ice or snow. Reduce your speed and give yourself more time to get there. If you have to drive through or into this area of deep snow, proceed with additional caution. Accidents may result from abrupt changes in visibility and perhaps slick roads.

United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
