At 12:32 p.m. on Monday, the National Weather Service said that Cortland, Chenango, and Otsego counties would get significant snowfall through 1:15 p.m.
“At 12:32 p.m., a band of heavy snow was over Pitcher, or 14 miles northeast of Marathon moving east at 35 MPH,” according to the weather service.
Norwich, Edmeston, Plymouth, North Norwich, Oxford, Sherburne, Pittsfield, New Lisbon, Solon, and Cincinnatus are among the places affected by the alert. The following highway exits are included in this: Interstate 88 close to 12.
The weather service states that “in winter weather conditions, conditions can deteriorate rapidly.” Be ready for roads covered with ice or snow. Reduce your speed and give yourself more time to get there. If you have to drive through or into this area of deep snow, proceed with additional caution. Accidents may result from abrupt changes in visibility and perhaps slick roads.
United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
