At 9:13 a.m. on Tuesday, the National Weather Service reported that Columbia, Ulster, and Dutchess counties would get significant snowfall through 10:15 a.m.
“At 9:12 a.m., an area of heavy snow was along a line extending from Granby to near Tillson and moving south at 25 MPH,” according to the meteorological service.
In the following areas, expect significant snowfall:

Torrington, Hyde Park, Canton, New Hartford, Amenia, Sharon, Millbrook, New Hartford Center, Cornwall Bridge, and Winsted around 9:20 a.m.

Pleasant Valley, Highland, Fairview, and Dover Plains around 9:25 a.m.

Poughkeepsie and Northwest Harwinton around 9:30 a.m.

Milton, Kent, Litchfield, and Red Oaks Mill around 9:35 a.m.

New Preston around 9:40 a.m.

Sherman, Wingdale, and Myers Corner around 9:45 a.m.

Thomaston, Wappingers Falls, Terryville, Hopewell Junction, and Gaylordsville around 9:50 a.m.

“If you are traveling into or through this area of heavy snow, exercise extra caution,” the weather agency says. Accidents may result from abrupt changes in visibility and perhaps slick roads.
