The National Weather Service issued a strong wind warning for St. Lawrence and Franklin counties at 2:58 p.m. on Sunday. The warning is in effect from Monday at 7 a.m. until Tuesday at 1 a.m.
According to the meteorological service, “Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected.”
Trees and electricity wires will be toppled by damaging winds. There may likely be intermittent power disruptions. The weather agency warns that travel will be challenging, particularly for well-known automobiles. “It’s advisable to stay indoors and stay away from windows during the hardest winds. Keep an eye out for tree limbs and other debris. If you have to drive, drive carefully. It is advised that people secure any loose items that might be damaged or blown about by the wind.
