At 1:29 p.m. on Monday, the National Weather Service issued a weather alert for Broome, Delaware, and Sullivan counties, predicting heavy snowfall through 2:15 p.m.
“At 1:28 p.m., a band of heavy snow was over Lanesboro, or 10 miles southwest of Deposit moving east at 30 MPH,” according to the weather service.
The following locations are affected by the alert: Hancock, Fremont, Windsor, Lanesboro, Thompson, Starrucca, Hiawatha, Susquehanna, Deposit, and Susquehanna Depot. The following highway exits are included in this: interstate 86/Route 17 between 80 and 93.
The weather service states that “in winter weather conditions, conditions can deteriorate rapidly.” Be ready for roads covered with ice or snow. To get to your destination, slow down and give yourself more time.
