NY weather: Prepare for heavy snow in New York until 1 a.m. Saturday

At 12:23 a.m. on Saturday, the National Weather Service published a forecast for Montgomery, Schoharie, Schenectady, Albany, and Rensselaer counties, predicting heavy snowfall through 1:30 a.m.

Interstate 88 between exits 22 and 24, Interstate 90 between exits 10 and 24, Interstate 87 between exits 23 and 2, and Interstate 787 between exits 1 and 6 are all included in this.

In the following areas, expect significant snowfall:

  • Albany, Colonie, Guilderland, and Central Bridge around 12:35 a.m.

  • Voorheesville around 12:40 a.m.

“In winter weather conditions, conditions can rapidly deteriorate,” the weather service says. Be ready for roads covered with ice or snow. Reduce your speed and give yourself more time to get there. If you have to drive into or through this area of heavy snow, go with additional caution. Accidents may result from abrupt changes in visibility and perhaps slick roads.
