NY weather: Prepare for heavy snow in New York Wednesday morning

At 7:36 a.m. on Wednesday, the National Weather Service released a report predicting significant snowfall in Tompkins, Tioga, and Broome counties through 8:30 a.m.

“At 7:36 a.m., a band of heavy snow was along a line extending from near Ithaca to near Windsor and moving southeast at 15 MPH,” according to the weather service.

Binghamton, Johnson City, Kirkwood, Maine, Danby, Nanticoke, Port Dickinson, Berkshire, Newark Valley, and Windsor are among the places affected by the alert. The following highway exits are included in this: New York Interstate 86/Route 17 between 70 North and 80; Interstate 81 between 1 and 7; and Interstate 88 between 1 and 5.

“In winter weather conditions, conditions can rapidly deteriorate,” the weather service continues. Be ready for roads covered with ice or snow. To get to your destination, slow down and give yourself more time.
