NY weather: Special weather statement issued for New York Friday night

At 8 p.m. on Friday, the National Weather Service issued a special weather statement for Greene, Columbia, Ulster, and Dutchess counties that would last until 11 p.m.

Through this evening, when temperatures are close to freezing, some places may get periods of freezing rain, snow, or sleet in addition to the rain. A thin layer of ice may form on untreated roads and walkways, making travel locally slick. “Be careful if you’re going anywhere tonight,” the weather agency advises.

United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
