NY weather update: Herkimer and Hamilton counties under a wind advisory until Tuesday morning

The National Weather Service issued a revised wind advisory for Herkimer and Hamilton counties on Tuesday at 2:52 a.m., which is in effect until 7 a.m.

We may expect “west winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 50 mph,” the weather service said. “As long as the wind advisory is in effect this morning, snow showers will continue to occur. Patches of blowing snow caused by strong gusts may drastically reduce visibility. Be especially careful when commuting in the early.

“Unsecured objects will be buffeted by gusty gusts. According to the weather service, there may be a few power outages and tree branches that are blown down. Strong winds like these can make driving challenging, particularly for well-known cars. Be especially careful.

United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
