NY weather update: Lake effect snow warning affecting New York until Sunday evening

At 10:40 p.m. on Friday, the National Weather Service issued a revised lake effect snow warning for Cayuga, Oswego, and Lewis counties, which would last until 6 p.m. on Sunday.

“Heavy lake effect snow,” the meteorological agency adds. The most persistent lake snows accumulate an additional 1 to 2 feet of snow. There are regions of blowing and drifting snow when winds reach 40 mph.

“With deep snow cover on roads and very poor visibility,” the meteorological service warns, “travel will be very difficult.” “Lake effect snow, which will fall in somewhat small bands, will replace the widespread moderate to heavy snow. When traveling, be ready for quickly shifting visibility and road conditions.
