At 12:40 p.m. on Friday, the National Weather Service issued an updated lake effect snow warning for Oswego County, which was in force until 7 a.m. on Saturday.
“Heavy lake effect snow,” the weather service remarks. In the most persistent lake snows, there are additional snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches, mostly around the lakeshore.
According to the weather service, “roads covered in snow and poor visibility will make travel challenging at times.” Road conditions and visibility might change quickly in narrow bands of heavy snow. There may be issues with local travel. The weather during lake effect snow might range from dry conditions a few kilometers distant to bands of locally heavy snow with significantly impaired visibility. Be ready for sudden changes in road conditions, visibility, and weather.
United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
