NY weather update: Lake effect snow warning affecting Oswego County until Wednesday afternoon

The National Weather Service issued an updated lake effect snow warning for Oswego County on Monday at 3:40 a.m., which is in effect from 1 p.m. to Wednesday at 1 p.m.

“Heavy lake effect snow expected,” the weather service said. The most persistent lake snows, which mostly affect the northern half of the county, accumulate 1 to 2 feet of snow overall.

According to the weather service, “travel will be very difficult with very poor visibility and deep snow cover on roads.” “The weather during lake effect snow can range from dry conditions a few kilometers distant to bands of locally heavy snow with significantly limited visibility. Be ready for sudden changes in road conditions, visibility, and weather.
