NY weather update: Lake effect snow warning for Jefferson and Lewis counties from Monday to Wednesday

The National Weather Service issued an updated lake effect snow warning for Jefferson and Lewis counties at 5:50 p.m. on Sunday. The warning was in force from Monday at 1 p.m. until Wednesday at 7 a.m.

“Heavy lake effect snow expected,” the weather service said. In the Tug Hill Region, the most persistent lake snows accumulate 2 to 3 feet of snow overall, with smaller quantities further north and east.

“With extremely poor visibility and heavy snow cover on the highways, travel will be extremely difficult to impossible. The meteorological agency warns that several important roads may close for a while. “Relatively narrow bands of heavy snow will fall. When traveling, be ready for quickly shifting visibility and road conditions.

United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
