NY weather update: Lake effect snow warning for Jefferson and Lewis counties until Wednesday morning

The National Weather Service issued an updated lake effect snow warning for Jefferson and Lewis counties on Monday at 4:38 p.m., which will remain in place until Wednesday at 7 a.m.

“Heavy lake effect snow expected,” the weather service said. In the most persistent lake snows, the total snow accumulation was two to three feet, with the largest accumulations occurring in the central part of Lewis County and from the northern part of the Tug Hill to the Watertown area.

According to the weather service, “travel will be very difficult with very poor visibility and deep snow cover on roads.” “Relatively narrow bands of heavy snow will fall. When traveling, be ready for quickly shifting visibility and road conditions.

United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
