The National Weather Service issued an updated lake effect snow warning for Oswego, Jefferson, and Lewis counties at 10:03 p.m. on Sunday. The warning is in place from Monday at 4 p.m. until Wednesday at 1 p.m.
“Heavy lake effect snow expected,” the weather service said. In the most persistent lake snows, the total snow accumulation is between one and two feet.
“With extremely poor visibility and heavy snow cover on the roadways, travel will be extremely challenging. The weather office reports that the dangerous circumstances will affect commutes on Monday evening and Tuesday morning and evening. “The weather during lake effect snow can range from dry conditions a few kilometers distant to bands of locally heavy snow with significantly limited visibility.
