At 5:35 p.m. on Tuesday, the National Weather Service issued an updated lake effect snow warning for Erie and Genesee counties, which would remain in force until Wednesday at 4 a.m.
“Heavy lake effect snow,” the weather service reports. From downtown Buffalo to West Seneca and the Buffalo Airport downstream, there is an additional 3 to 5 inches of snow accumulation. Less than 2 inches of additional accumulation was found in Genesee County and the Buffalo northtowns. By midnight, the most of the snow accumulation will be finished.
“With extremely poor visibility and heavy snow cover on the roadways, travel will be extremely challenging. The meteorological agency notes that some important roads may close for a while. “Relatively narrow bands of heavy snow will fall. When traveling, be ready for quickly shifting visibility and road conditions.
