The National Weather Service issued an updated lake effect snow warning for Oswego, Jefferson, and Lewis counties at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. The warning was in place until 7 p.m. on Friday.
“Heavy lake effect snow,” the weather service reports. In the most persistent lake snows, there may be additional one to two-foot snow accumulations.
“With heavy snow on the roads and extremely low visibility, travel will be extremely challenging. The meteorological service warns that the dangerous circumstances will affect the Friday morning commute. “Relatively narrow bands of heavy snow will fall. When traveling, be ready for quickly shifting visibility and road conditions. The weather during lake effect snow might range from dry conditions a few kilometers distant to bands of locally heavy snow with significantly impaired visibility. Be ready for sudden changes in road conditions, visibility, and weather.
United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
