The National Weather Service issued an updated lake effect snow warning for Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Erie counties on Saturday at 12:37 p.m., which will remain in force until Monday at 7 p.m.

“Travel will be hazardous and potentially dangerous due to the anticipated whiteout conditions. Within the thickest area of the lake effect snowband, travel will be extremely difficult to impossible, according to the weather service. “The weather during lake effect snow can range from dry conditions a few kilometers distant to bands of locally heavy snow with significantly limited visibility. Be ready for sudden changes in road conditions, visibility, and weather. Postpone all travel. If you have to travel, drive very carefully. Carry a snow storm kit containing blankets, additional clothes, a flashlight, a shovel, tire chains, booster cables, and other necessities. Additionally, include non-perishable food, water, a first aid kit, and anything else you might need to survive if you get stuck.
