NY weather update: Special weather statement affecting New York until early Saturday morning

In the counties of Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, Cayuga, Oswego, Jefferson, Lewis, Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Livingston, Ontario, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany, the National Weather Service issued an updated special weather statement at 12:11 a.m. on Saturday that would be in force until 4 a.m.

Overnight, temperatures will continue to fall into the teens across the majority of the region and into the single digits in the North Country. Roads, parking lots, and sidewalks will become ice and extremely slick as a result of the temperature dip, which will enable any water and slush to freeze on untreated surfaces. The weather service advises slowing down and allowing more time to halt if you’re driving overnight.

United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
