NY weather: Weather alert for heavy snow in Delaware and Sullivan counties Wednesday evening

At 6:38 p.m. on Wednesday, the National Weather Service issued a weather alert for Delaware and Sullivan counties, warning of heavy snow through 7:30 p.m.

“At 6:36 p.m., an area of heavy snow was along a line extending from near Willowemoc to Equinunk and moving southeast at 35 MPH,” according to the weather service.

Rockland, Fallsburg, Monticello, Liberty, Bethel, Damascus, Neversink, South Fallsburg, Callicoon, and Cochecton are among the places affected by the alert. The following highway exits are included in this: Interstate 86/Route 17 between 94 and 114.

“If you have to travel into or through this area of heavy snow, exercise extra caution,” the weather agency advises. Accidents may result from abrupt changes in visibility and perhaps slick roads.
