NY weather: Weather alert for heavy snow in New York Friday morning

The National Weather Service issued a weather advisory for Onondaga, Madison, Cortland, Chenango, Otsego, Broome, Delaware, and Sullivan counties on Friday at 7:30 a.m., warning of heavy snow through 8:30 a.m.

“At 7:29 a.m., a band of heavy snow was moving along a line from southern Onondaga County through northern Sullivan county southeast at 25 MPH,” according to the National Weather Service.

Rockland, Sidney, Guilford, Otisco, Deposit, Coventry, Greene, Oxford, Preble, and Bainbridge are among the places affected by the alert. The following highway exits are included in this: New York From 13 to 15, Interstate 81. Interstate 88 between 7 and 10; Interstate 86/Route 17 between 87A and 94.

“If you have to travel into or through this band of heavy snow, exercise extra caution,” the weather agency advises. Accidents may result from abrupt changes in visibility and perhaps slick roads.
