“At 9:40 a.m., a band of heavy snow was over Bainbridge, or 13 miles south of Norwich moving east at 40 MPH,” according to the weather service.
Oneonta, Sidney, Guilford, Bainbridge, Masonville, Unadilla, Otego, Afton, Franklin, and Sidney Center are among the places affected by the alert. The following highway exits are included in this: interstate 88 between 7 and 13.
“If you must travel into or through this band of heavy snow, exercise extra caution,” the weather agency advises. Accidents may result from abrupt changes in visibility and perhaps slick roads.
